YEAR 9 CAREERS
At Warnbro Community High School, we are proud to take part in the Year 9 Career Taster Program (CTP), a valuable initiative aimed at sparking student’s interest in future careers and helping them make informed decisions about their educational and vocational pathways. Through hands-on experiences and industry-led activities, the CTP offers students early exposure to a wide range of careers and the skills required in each. These opportunities help students connect their current learning with future possibilities, guiding them in selecting subjects for Years 10, 11, and 12 that reflect their interests and ambitions. By engaging directly with real workplaces and industry professionals, students gain meaningful insights that support confident and informed post-school choices.
This year our year 9 students have taken part in the following Career Tasters & Guest Presentations.

DEFENCE INDUSTRY TRAINING CAPABILITY PRESENTATION
As part of our commitment to preparing students for life beyond school, your child recently participated in the Defence Industry Training Capability Presentation. This session formed part of our career development program and gave students valuable insight into career pathways within Australia’s Defence Industry, a growing sector offering a broad range of opportunities.
During the presentation, students explored:
- The importance of the Defence Industry and its contribution to national security
- A variety of career options, including trades, technical roles and support positions
- Training and entry pathways such as apprenticeships, traineeships and vocational education
- How their current skills, studies and interests could align with roles in this industry
Students were encouraged to think about how these careers could suit their individual strengths and how to begin planning for these pathways through further study and skill development.
